Many things have occurred recently to me, but to put them down for the view of others- I realize how absolutely frivolous it all is.
Saw Superman. I loved it, it reminded me why I was so enthralled with Superman as a child. Defiantly going to be picking that one up on DVD.
Now I have watched Japanese animation for quite some time (I usually only use term anime in speech). I've enjoyed watching how animation had developed being influenced by a different culture. Where as there are pieces of brilliance whose accomplishments in visualization and story telling (anything my Hayao Miyazaki, FLCL, Cowboy Bebop, and many others), there are an infinite amount of others that are absolutely terrible and uninteresting. Which is where I found myself quite frequently recently.
Last week though, I was introduced to a show called "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya". It just finished airing in Japan and I hope they bring the series state side. Focusing on decompressed pacing and out-of-order story telling, I definitely enjoyed it an immense amount. Though time will tell how fondly I'll remember the series. Also, I can't talk about the story because part of the fun of the series is figuring out what the story is and where the characters fit.
Two artists who I've constantly looked over their work these last few days.
The first is a Mr. Heidschoetter. Beautiful lines, strong movement, uncomplicated but so full of life.

My favorite illustration of his : Click Me!
The second is George Vlosich III. Who's sports illustrations and celebrity pieces are near perfect representations of their genuine counterparts. Oh, did I mention he works in an Etch-A-Sketch?
Ridiculous Talent
Now, a field guide given to US soldiers stationed in China in 1942 entitled "How to Spot a Jap" can be found here. Ah, old-fashion racism. O_o
Sorry, I find it hilarious and extremely offensive where I have to mention it.
