Summary of the beginning of my Summer.

After the whirlwind stress devastation that was my finals week, I finally began my summer break.

The first day was spent hanging out with two very good friends that I haven't had a chance to truly hang out with in quite some time. Ate good food, did nothing productive, didn't have an assignment due next week... It was a fantastic day.

I believe I'm going to do something similar tomorrow.

Today, today was a great day for the animation geek in me.

Went to go see Cars. Before I even sat down in my seat, I had stated "I really want to see a Ratatouille teaser or something. Lo, and behold it was right after a series of trailers I had no interest in. Brad Bird is my hero, who accepts nothing but sheer excellence- and Ratatouille is looking like it won't be the exception.

There was the short One Man Band that showed before the movie. It had been so long that I had read about it, that I completely had forgotten it was showing before. This was also on the magnitude of the mega fantastic ridiculous.

Now onto Cars, I'll admit I had my doubts. The trailers and commercials didn't really do anything for me. But because it's Pixar, and John Lasseter helming it, I would go see it. Luckily, I caught it opening day because EVERYTHING was fantastic. :D
Characters, design, story, story telling, pacing, lighting, particle effects, shots, voice acting, music selection, etc.

Got me into an intense desire to find Renderman books and tutorials, because I'm defiantly taking the course next year now!

If the rest of my summer shapes up to be half as good as these two days-- it'll be a great summer indeed.
