A South Africa native, Neill Blomkamp has been named as the director of the Halo movie. His skill in his craft has definitely gotten him noticed, as by this article from Gamasutra. Check out two of his commercials. Strong visuals and they're fun to watch-- Guess we'll see in 2008 how he did at the helm of a big budget movie.
And check out the short he did called 'Alive in Joburg'.
